FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
We offer a supplemental pantry providing snacks, hygiene products, school supplies, learning resources and books to families in the Northland.
We also have a new and used toy library where kids can play and take home a toy each week.
We have a backpack giveaway each August, and a coats giveaway each October.
Finally, we offer educational and enrichment classes to any and all families in the Northland!
Most of our classes and enrichment courses for kids will consist of the following:
- Time to check in and play in our toy library
- Time for the program/event
- Time for a snack
- Time to pick a book
- Time to pick a toy
- Time to go home
Our one-time or guest speaker events may not include some of the above features.
Clay or Platte county residents with children between the ages of 2-17.
Our food pantry offers occasional classes for adults as well, these are also open to any Platte and Clay county residents.

For all Mimi's Pantry 4 Kids offerings (shopping, giveaways and classes), click on the chalkboard, then look for the opportunity you would like to participate in and click it. From there you will get to see the available dates for that activity!

On your first visit, whether for a class or a shopping appointment, you will fill out an intake form for each child.
You will also need to bring:
- Parent/Guardian ID
- Proof of Residency in Clay or Platte County - utility bill, lease, mortgage, government issued mail
Yes, parents and guardians are required to remain at the pantry for the duration of their child's visit.
Our pantry shopping appointments at the kids pantry are limited to ONCE each month.
Our classes are unlimited, and you can sign up for as many as you would like in the month!
We currently accept the following donations:
- new and used books
- school supplies
- snacks
- new and gently used toys
- hygiene products
- learning resources
Here are a few of the volunteer opportunities available at our kids pantry:
- Manage front desk phones and check in (training required)
- Stock and organize our store
- Assist shoppers
- Accept and sort donations at our pantry restocking hours
- Assist with library (sorting books, planning upcoming crafts and learning resources, sorting toys)
- Lead or participate in reading hours, crafts and enrichment opportunities
- Help keep the pantry clean and tidy
Yes! We love it when families volunteer with us, and help us truly live out our mission of families feeding families.
High schoolers may make their own volunteer profile and sign up for events.
If you have younger children that would like to join you, please list them in the comments when you sign up to volunteer for an event and let us know their names and ages so we know who is coming!
Just like our food pantry, our only requirement to use our services is that you are a resident of Platte or Clay county. We welcome all families in the Northland to utilize our learning and educational resources, and we encourage families who don't need to utilize our shopping resources to come and volunteer with us!
